BCCI Chairman participates in Bahrain-Egypt Business Forum

Manama, Sep. 2 (BNA): Sameer Abdullah Nass, Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), participated in the Bahrain-Egypt Business Forum.

During the forum, Nass attributed Bahrain’s economic development to the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which has prioritised economic growth as a central pillar of the Kingdom’s comprehensive development process.

He commended the role of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in leading Bahrain’s economic transformation, noting that the Kingdom’s economic vision has enabled it to navigate through global challenges, seize new opportunities, and establish strong partnerships with the private sector and regional allies, particularly Egypt.

Nass highlighted that Bahrain has established pioneering institutions under the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, including the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA), and the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), which serve as the foundation for a diversified and sustainable economy.

He also noted that the launch of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 in 2008 marked a historic turning point in the GCC, making Bahrain the first state in the region to introduce a comprehensive economic vision based on principles of competitiveness, sustainability, and equity, principles that shielded the Kingdom from the repercussions of global crises such as the 2008 financial collapse, fluctuating oil prices, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nass emphasised that all major economic sectors have seen substantial growth under the national development agenda. He gave an outline of some of the most remarkable breakthroughs in various sectors.

Nass explained that the industrial sector benefited from the "Takamul" local value-added programme, which promoted Bahraini products in Saudi markets, while Bahrain’s integration into the regional industrial partnership with Egypt enhanced industrial security and created promising investment opportunities. Major housing and real estate projects, such as East Hidd, Salman City, and East Sitra, have been delivered through policies that facilitate financing and public-private partnerships.

The BCCI Chairman indicated that the health sector has advanced through the establishment of medical cities, specialised hospitals, and pharmaceutical and healthcare services, while the education system has become stronger through transparent, high-quality standards overseen by BQA.

Bahrain has also become a regional financial hub, particularly in Islamic banking, and has emerged as a leader in digital transformation through its "Cloud First" policy, hosting the regional Amazon Web Services hub and establishing itself as a center for technological innovation.

Nass emphasised that the BCCI has consistently been a key supporter of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s vision and efforts. He explained that the BCCI has been a communication channel between decision-makers and the private sector.

He said the initiatives of the BCCI included creating specialised centers to support business activity, enhancing transparency through commercial dispute resolution, and providing full support to investors, including Egyptian investors, in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.

He concluded by emphasising that Bahrain’s economic partnership with Egypt is built on principles of partnership, diversity, and equitable opportunities, noting that the shared expertise and capabilities of both countries promise a brighter future for their peoples and generations to come.
