Joint statement on occasion of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s visit to Egypt

Cairo, Sep. 3 (BNA): A joint statement was issued following the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Arab Republic of Egypt. The statement read:
1. In the context of longstanding ties between Egypt and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and under the leadership of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of Egypt, HE President El Sisi received HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in Cairo on Tuesday, September 3. His Royal Highness extended His Majesty the King’s greetings and good wishes for Egypt, and HE the Egyptian President relayed regards to His Majesty the King, wishing Bahrain continued stability and prosperity.
2. HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister commended the warm reception, and highlighted the strong strategic partnership between the two countries. His Royal Highness commended Egypt’s role in supporting Arab causes, and underscored the Kingdom’s commitment to continue enhancing cooperation with Egypt and opening new horizons in various domains, in line with the aspirations of the Egyptian and Bahraini peoples for progress, prosperity, and sustainable development.
3. HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also met with His Excellency Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt, where they held extended talks in the presence of ministers, senior officials, and business representatives from both countries. The discussions focused on means to enhance bilateral relations, particularly in the domains of economy, trade, investment, and development. Both sides commended the work of the Bahrain-Egypt Government Committee for Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technological Cooperation, and the series of memoranda of understanding signed in areas including economy, tourism, finance, trade, investment, culture, and technology during the visit. They lauded this mechanism as an effective tool for identifying priority areas of cooperation for both countries.
4. The two sides welcomed the outcomes of the Bahrain-Egypt Business Forum held during the visit, highlighting its role in connecting business communities, as well as the Bahraini delegation’s field visits in Egypt.
5. Egypt congratulated Bahrain on its election to the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member for 2026–2027, commending Bahrain’s international standing and expected role in defending Arab issues, especially the Palestinian cause.
6. Both sides welcomed the high level of mutual support for candidacies in international organisations. Bahrain reiterated its support for Egypt’s nominee, Dr. Khaled El Anany, for the post of UNESCO Director-General (2025–2029). Egypt thanked Bahrain for its backing.
7. The talks also addressed regional developments. The two sides emphasised that the Kingdom’s security is integral to Egypt’s national security, and underlined the importance of political dialogue to resolve regional crises. They agreed to step up coordination in light of regional tensions, and highlighted the need to support stability, sovereignty, and national institutions in Middle Eastern countries.
8. On the Palestinian cause, both sides reiterated support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. They called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages, and urgent humanitarian access. They rejected any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land.
9. Egypt welcomed Bahrain’s support for the Arab–Islamic plan for the Gaza Strip’s recovery and reconstruction, and looked forward to the Kingdom’s participation in the upcoming Cairo International Conference on Early Recovery and Gaza Reconstruction, to be held with the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations once a ceasefire agreement is reached.
