Malaysia Brings National Day Spirit to Expo 2025 Osaka

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will bring the colours, rhythms and unity of its National Day celebrations to Expo 2025 Osaka next Monday, transforming the global stage into a vibrant showcase of heritage, progress and global partnership.

According to the Malaysia Pavilion Expo 2025 Osaka statement, the event underscores the country’s role as ASEAN Chair and its enduring friendship with Japan under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

It said the event will coincide with Malaysia’s Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry (NRES) and Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (PETRA) Week.

The celebration will begin with a lively parade leading to the Expo’s “Ray Garden” National Day Hall for the official ceremony, followed by an address by Chief Secretary to the Government Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and a series of cultural performances showcasing Malaysia’s rich and diverse heritage.

Among the highlights are a Silat performance by the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) and Zeppo Youngsterz; the rhythms of Malaysia by Amir Percussion; student voices and Alena Murang’s sape performance, before culminating in “Saya Anak Malaysia” (I am a Malaysian), a vibrant finale celebrating unity and the Jalur Gemilang.

"These artists will also be performing on pop-up stages across the Expo grounds, bringing Malaysia’s culture directly to visitors throughout the day," according to the statement.

It added that the National Day celebration will highlight Malaysia's investment attractiveness as an investment destination, supported by key national policies like the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), and the Green Investment Strategy (GIS), all designed to boost business confidence and regional growth.

"Through the occasion, Malaysia will underscore its vision of moving ASEAN forward on a foundation of sustainability, inclusivity and innovation, in line with its Chairmanship priorities to strengthen regional resilience and deepen partnerships that promote shared prosperity across all member states," according to the statement.

The programme continues on Sept 9 with an "ASEAN Presents" panel discussion highlighting how Malaysia’s vision connects with broader ASEAN+3 cooperation by exploring how the integration of energy transition, water security, digital transformation, and people-centred policies can enable ASEAN to work with Japan, China, and Korea to build a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive region on the path to ASEAN 2045.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Pavilion Director Ellyza Mastura Ahmad Hanipiah said that the pavilion has facilitated business programmes in high-impact sectors including green energy, digital transformation, halal innovation and advanced manufacturing.

"Over the past months, the Malaysia Pavilion has been a home where our culture, innovation, and partnerships have come to life.

“We have welcomed thousands of visitors, exchanged ideas with global counterparts, and forged new collaborations that reflect Malaysia’s role as an ASEAN Chair committed to a sustainable and inclusive future," she said.

She noted that as National Day is being celebrated at Expo 2025 Osaka, it not only looks back with pride on what it has shared but also looks ahead with confidence to the opportunities that lie before us, underscoring its vision to move ASEAN forward on a foundation of sustainability and an inclusive future.

Ellyza Mastura added that the Malaysia Pavilion continues to highlight future-focused sectors in alignment with the MADANI Economy principles while serving as a platform for global partnerships that drive knowledge-sharing, technology transfer and investments.

Through this, Malaysia reaffirms its commitment to sustainable progress, strengthens regional resilience, and positions itself as a dynamic hub for innovation and inclusivity, according to Ellyza Mastura.
