RCRC Brings World-Famous Opera Carmen to Saudi Arabia for First Time

   Riyadh, September 5, 2025, SPA -- The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), in collaboration with the China National Opera House (CNOH), organized a performance of the famous opera Carmen by French composer Georges Bizet at the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh, marking an exceptional artistic milestone as this iconic operatic masterpiece was staged in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the first time, coinciding with the Saudi-China Cultural Year.
   The opening night drew a large audience of guests and dignitaries, exceeding 2,500 attendees. The orchestra delivered a distinguished operatic performance that contributed to the success of the evening, which extended from the famous Habanera aria to the breathtaking finale. The debut captivated the audience with dramatic music, emotional storytelling, and exceptional artistry. The CNOH team excelled in bringing the timeless tale of passion, jealousy, and fate to life through intricate sets, vibrant costumes, and world-class direction.
   Carmen has been one of the most celebrated masterpieces in operatic art since its Paris premiere in 1875 and followed by generations of opera enthusiasts worldwide. Its staging in Riyadh represents a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s cultural and artistic movement, reflecting its growing engagement with global arts and enriching the local cultural scene with high-quality productions.
   The performance of Carmen will continue at the King Fahd Cultural Center until September 6, offering audiences the opportunity to experience this world-class opera up close.
