Bishkek, Sept. 5, 2025 /Kabar/. Currently, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and China is about $15 billion, we plan to increase it to $30-40 billion, Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev told live on radio.
He noted that over the past 3 years, major changes have occurred in Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy, relations with many countries have strengthened, official visits have been exchanged, including strengthening bilateral strategic relations.
"This is not a one-day matter, each document is the result of a lot of work by ministries, diplomats, experts, we have gradually put all this in order. First of all, we have established political, trade and economic ties with neighboring countries, and also strengthened relations with the countries of Europe, Asia, America and Japan. All this is being carried out under the strict guidance of President Sadyr Zhaparov," the minister said.
According to him, the 4-day trip to China was fruitful, he added that large projects are being implemented between the countries.
"The issues of non-stop operation of the Torugart checkpoint were discussed. In addition, last week, the ceremony of launching the construction of the Barskoon - Uchturfan - Aksu highway was held with the participation of the president, the construction is being carried out jointly with large Chinese companies, which is planned to be implemented in 2025-2028. This will be the third large highway that will connect Kyrgyzstan with China. There will be great prospects here.
First of all, to attract tourists from China, secondly, transit freight traffic to Kazakhstan will increase. Also, during the visit to China, extended negotiations were held on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project. This is the largest project in the region, where China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and also Azerbaijan are interested," Kulubaev said.
