King Hamad Global Centre Chairman: Bahrain established pioneering system of social solidarity

Manama, Sep. 4 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance, emphasised that the Royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has established a pioneering system of social solidarity, rooted in noble values and introducing new concepts of humanitarian giving.

Marking the International Day of Charity, he highlighted the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to continue implementing plans and programmes that advance charitable and social work, and to expand partnerships with civil society organisations in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

He underscored the achievements of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), chaired by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, in the fields of social care, supporting orphans and widows, and providing relief to communities affected by disasters and crises, reflecting the Royal vision of investing in a better future for humanity through innovative and sustainable approaches.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed noted that the occasion provides an opportunity to emphasise the importance of charitable work as a way of life and a shared responsibility, and to raise awareness of the need to support volunteerism and humanitarian initiatives. He highlighted Royal initiatives such as promoting humanitarian diplomacy to alleviate suffering and deliver education and health services to those affected by conflict. He recalled His Majesty the King’s gesture of directing all official budgets allocated for the silver jubilee celebrations of His Majesty’s accession to charitable associations and funds, in addition to establishing the King Hamad Award for Coexistence and Tolerance.

He underlined that Bahrain has a long standing tradition of charitable work that goes beyond individual aid and emergency response, making it a fundamental element of the national identity and a reflection of the values of compassion and solidarity. He emphasised that the Kingdom has transformed charitable work into an institutionalised, sustainable system, regulated within established legal frameworks.

The Chairman added that the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance continues to promote the values of human fraternity, while developing new mechanisms to strengthen dialogue and harmony. Through its international partnerships, the centre also contributes to capacity building and the advancement of tolerance, rejecting extremism and hatred in order to support global stability and prosperity.
