Over 500 Cops On Duty For AMMTC Security In Melaka

MELAKA (Malacca, Malaysia), Sept 6 (Bernama) -- Ahead of the 19th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC) and Related Meetings starting on Monday, Melaka police have assured security throughout the event.

Melaka Police Chief, Dzulkhairi Mukhtar, said a total of 569 police officers and personnel will be on duty during the five-day meeting in the state.

“Melaka police are always prepared and will ensure the safety of the delegates as well as the public throughout the meetings.

“Motorists need not worry as no major roads will be closed to vehicles even though the meetings will be held over five days,” he said in a statement here Saturday.

Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the opening ceremony of the AMMTC meeting, which will also be attended by Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Melaka Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh on Tuesday.

The 19th AMMTC, from Sept 8 to 12, is organised in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year with the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability”, reflecting the country’s commitment towards building a more inclusive and sustainable ASEAN Community.
