Bishkek, Sept. 16, 2025 /Kabar/. The runner has been installed at Uch-Kurgan hydroelectric power station. According to the Ministry of Energy, one of the key stages of the modernization of the second hydroelectric unit of the station has been completed - the runner with the turbine cover has been installed in the design location.
It is noted that this hydroelectric unit has become the second one to undergo reconstruction as part of a large-scale project to upgrade Uch-Kurgan hydroelectric power station.
Up to date, the reconstruction work of the station has been completed by 56%. The remaining installation operations on the hydroelectric unit are being carried out at an accelerated pace. The general contractor of the project is the Chinese company CNEEC (China National Electric Engineering Co. Ltd.).

Currently installed capacity of the Uch-Kurgan HPP is 189 MW. After completion of the reconstruction of the second hydroelectric unit, the station's capacity will increase by another 9 MW, which will significantly improve the reliability and sustainability of power supply in the region. Completion of the reconstruction of the second hydroelectric unit and its commissioning are scheduled for November 2025.
