Kyrgyzneftegaz increases oil production and modernizes plant in Jalal-Abad

Bishkek, Sept. 17, 2025 /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan, oil and gas fields are located in the areas of Changyr-Tash, Kara-Zhygach, Togap-Beshkent, Mailuu-Suu, Kyzyl-Alma, Suzak, Sary-Kamysh, Sary-Tash and others. Some of them are already being developed, providing the production of fuels and lubricants. Experts note that the development of reserves will allow the country to use domestic raw materials and reduce dependence on imports. Drilling operations on the territory of present-day Kyrgyzstan began 93 years ago.
Today, Kyrgyzneftegaz open joint-stock company, founded in 1952 is main enterprise for oil and gas production in the Jalal-Abad and Batken regions. The company annually extracts up to 500 thousand tons of raw materials and processes them at its own plant in Jalal-Abad, where AI-80 gasoline, diesel fuel and fuel oil are produced, sold on the domestic market.
According to the company, production indicators continue to grow. For the first six months of 2025, the oil production plan was 82,982 tons, while 82,992 tons were actually extracted. The natural gas plan was 12 million 890 thousand cubic meters, while the actual volume was 13 million 700 thousand cubic meters. Accordingly, net profit also increased, exceeding 1.4 million soms for the first half of the year.
Nurgazy Nishanov, Kyrgyzneftegaz Chairman of the Board, noted that after the completion of major projects, the company's revenues will increase significantly, new jobs will be created and additional economic opportunities will open up. The company is currently conducting drilling operations to discover new deposits: exploration is underway at four of more than 14 licensed sites. At the same time, the oil refinery in Jalal-Abad is being modernized. It is planned to increase the annual oil production volume to 500 thousand tons and establish the production of motor fuel of K4 and K5 standards (AI-95, AI-92), which meet international requirements. The total investment in the project is 410 million dollars.
The future plant will be equipped with modern automated control systems and will be unique for Central Asia. The equipment is manufactured in Dubai and Jalal-Abad, installation will be completed on site. The launch of the modernized enterprise is scheduled for 2027.
In addition, to update the drilling fleet, the company purchased mobile and stationary drilling rigs in Russia and China. Currently, seven teams are involved in drilling operations, and more than 220 people work at the plant.
Recall that last year, President Sadyr Zhaparov laid a "time capsule" in honor of the modernization of the plant. After the completion of the work and the commissioning of the facility, it will become one of the strategically important for the country's economy.
