In Edelweiss training center near the waters of Lake Issyk-Kul, under the leadership of the Chief of the Main Directorate for Daily Activities of the Troops of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic Almaz Kozhoshev, the command and staff exercise "Rubezh-2025" is being held.
The exercises are aimed at practicing the preparation and conduct of combat operations of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces (CRDF) of the Central Asian region to destroy illegal armed groups that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.
The exercises are also attended by military groups from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, operational groups of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat. The core of the Russian group is made up of servicemen from the Central Military District from the 201st military base.
Total number of exercise participants is about 1,200 people and 500 units of military and special equipment, including aircraft, helicopters and combat boats.
In addition, CRDF formed in 2001 based on the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council, includes units and subdivisions of constant readiness of the armed forces, equipped with modern weapons systems and military equipment. The main tasks of the CRDF are to participate in repelling external military aggression and in conducting joint counter-terrorism operations.
