During the Official Visit of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to Japan: The Kingdom of Bahrain and Japan Announce Elevation of Bilateral Relations to a Strategic Partnership

Tokyo, Sep. 19 (BNA): As part of the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Japan, the two nations announced the ambitious elevation of their bilateral relations from a Comprehensive Partnership to a Strategic Partnership.
This significant announcement was made during the meeting held today in the capital, Tokyo, between His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and His Excellency Shigeru Ishiba, the Prime Minister of Japan.
The upgrade in relations reflects the progress achieved under all existing agreements and Memoranda of Understanding between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Japan. It aims to build upon the multifaceted cooperation, enhance joint collaborative frameworks, and explore new avenues in the relationship between the two countries. The Strategic Partnership will prioritise vital sectors, including trade, investment, technology, and energy, in addition to enhancing commercial exchange and commencing direct flights between the two nations.
The Strategic Partnership will also encompass enhanced political and diplomatic cooperation, including closer collaboration on regional and international issues of mutual concern. It will also strengthen collaboration in the fields of economy, trade, investment, energy, industry, science, technology, digital transformation, space, and healthcare. The two countries will also work to develop the partnership in other areas of shared interest.
