Qeshm Island hosts second ‘Agricultural Nowruz’ festival

Qeshm, IRNA – The second “Agricultural Nowruz” festival was held on Thursday and Friday (September 18 and 19) to introduce the culture, rituals, and capacities of Dayrestan Village on Qeshm Island.
The festival featured a variety of activities, including sevandbafi, mogh pazidan (tree climbing), the rezif or azva ceremony, dabheya performances by children, zagar, liva, oud playing, jaffini performances, a goat and asurik tree exhibition, the iron cow ceremony, and halva making.
Dayrestan Village, known for being one of the greenest villages on Qeshm Island, hosted the festival amidst its expansive palm groves and diverse horticultural products.
The festival provided a unique opportunity to revive indigenous heritage, traditional rituals, and centuries-old local agricultural and horticultural knowledge, while also contributing to the strengthening of the rural economy and green tourism.
Qeshm Island, with an area of 1,500 square kilometers, stretches parallel to the southern coast of Iran along the Strait of Hormuz. It is 135 kilometers long, has an average width of 11 kilometers, is part of Hormozgan Province, and boasts a 300-kilometer coastline.
Qeshm County, which includes the islands of Qeshm and Larak, has a population of approximately 190,000 people.
