Cashless payments in Kyrgyzstan break records

Bishkek, Sept. 22, 2025. /Kabar/. The introduction of cashless payments in Kyrgyzstan is accelerating.
According to the National Bank, 20 commercial banks and 14 payment organizations are already connected to the ELQR system, and 32 mobile apps are operational. The country services over 15 million current accounts, 9.8 million bank cards, 3.5 million identified e-wallets, and 3 million agent mobile apps.
In the first half of 2025 alone, a record-breaking 274.9 billion soms in payments were processed via QR codes. This is 19.9 times more than in the same period last year (13.8 billion soms). This growth is driven by the large-scale implementation of QR codes at more than 80,500 retail outlets across the country.
