Kyrgyzstan to set Adult Education Day

Bishkek, Sept. 22, 2025. /Kabar/. On September 22, the Social Policy Committee of the Zhogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic reviewed and approved the draft resolution of the Zhogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Establishing Adult Education Day."

The initiators of this resolution are Zhogorku Kenesh deputies Zhanarbek Akayev, Eldar Abakirov, Chingiz Aidarbekov, Nilufar Alimzhanova, Azamat Isirailov, Aisuluu Mamashova, Gulkan Moldobekova, and Zhumabek Salymbekov.

One of the initiators, deputy Aisuluu Mamashova, noted that this draft resolution proposes to establish April 17 as Adult Education Day. "Continuous learning is not a new trend, but the norm of the future." "People, regardless of age, should have the opportunity to learn," said Aisuluu Mamashova, adding that the Cabinet of Ministers, within the framework of this resolution, should conduct relevant events, seminars, and training courses for citizens.

MP Aigul Aidarova asked her colleagues how, judging by this bill, the provision of adult teachers is envisaged when there is a shortage of teachers in schools for children.

MP Gulsunkan Dzhunushalieva also noted that the country should establish a Day to Combat Illiteracy. There have been such calls before. If we look at history, such calls have been made, and that's where it all began, she said.
