Kyrgyzstan is ready to build to 40 floor skyscrapers, Oruntaev says

Bishkek, Sept 23, 2025. /Kabar/. Nurdan Oruntaev, Minister of Construction, Architecture, Housing, and Public Utilities of the Kyrgyz Republic, told the Kabar news agency that Kyrgyzstan is creating all the conditions for investors, including in the construction of high-rise buildings.
According to him, the main requirements for developers are complete economic self-sufficiency and compliance with seismic safety standards, given that the country is located in a seismic zone with a magnitude of up to 8.
Today, buildings over 100 meters tall are already being constructed in Kyrgyzstan. We've been monitoring them for two years, and based on these observations, we've concluded that we can move forward. A Chinese investor now has the opportunity to construct a 40-floor building. Thanks to new technologies and software, calculations are carefully reviewed before construction begins. We've already reviewed the project and are convinced that the country has all the capabilities to construct such buildings. Kyrgyzstan shouldn't lag behind other countries in this area, the minister said.
Oruntaev also noted that 60-70-floor buildings have already been constructed in Urumqi, China, and seismic conditions same as in Kyrgyzstan. These projects are used as models for calculations and risk assessments.
According to the minister, 27 floor buildings are currently operating in the country, while structures up to 35-floor are under construction, and the potential is now to reach the 40-floor.
The number of investors, both domestic and foreign, has increased in the construction industry. Currently, there are no barriers for them; we ensure equal conditions for everyone, added Nurdan Oruntayev.
