General Authority for Competition to Take Part in Lear Competition Festival in Rome

Riyadh, September 22, 2025, SPA -- The General Authority for Competition (GAC) will participate in the Lear Competition Festival (LCF) from September 23 to 25 in Rome, where the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be represented by a delegation led by GAC CEO Dr. Fahad Al-Shathri to strengthen the country’s global leadership in competition policy.
The participation underscores GAC's commitment to consolidating the Kingdom’s position as a leading model in developing regulatory frameworks, particularly amid the rapid transformation of global and digital markets. This aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to build a diversified and sustainable economy. The Kingdom has made significant advances in competitiveness indicators, with its regulatory experience increasingly drawing the interest of international bodies.
On the opening day, Al-Shathri will take part in a high-level dialogue session on competition regulations, new legislation, and the opportunities and challenges of regulating emerging digital markets to ensure fairness in the digital economy.
On the second day, he will chair a session titled “Competition and Regulation in the Digital Sphere,” which will highlight best practices in global cooperation to counter monopolistic practices in digital markets. The session will also review successful models of cross-border collaboration, explore effective mechanisms for exchanging expertise in complex investigations, and address future challenges in coordinating regulatory policies.
The LCF is one of the world's leading forums on competition policy, bringing together policymakers, academic experts, and private sector leaders to discuss the latest developments in competition law and regulation.
