Foreign Minister takes part in UN meeting organised by Egypt on Arab plan for Gaza reconstruction

New York, Sep. 23 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in a special meeting organised by the Permanent Mission of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United Nations in New York, on the Arab plan for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza. 

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and was held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting brought together a number of Arab and foreign ministers, along with representatives of international organisations, including the United Nations and the European Union.

In his remarks, Dr. Al Zayani emphasised the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for the Gaza reconstruction plan, highlighting the efforts undertaken by Egypt to prepare the initiative and to rally international support for its implementation. He reiterated Bahrain’s firm opposition to any forced displacement of the Palestinian people from Gaza, renewing the call for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages and detainees and the delivery of urgent humanitarian assistance to civilians.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Ruwaei, Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, and Ambassador Saeed Abdulkhaliq Saeed, Head of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
