Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development participates in SDG Moment in New York

New York, Sep. 22 (BNA): Dana Imad Hamzah, Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Sustainable Development, participated in the 2025 SDG Moment, held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) High-Level Week.

Mandated by the 2019 SDG Summit, the 2025 SDG Moment, convened under the theme "Keeping the Promise", serves as an annual call to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to uphold the central promise of building a more just, peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous world for all.

António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations and Annalena Baerbock, President of the General Assembly, delivered the opening statements and stressed the urgency of decisive action as the world enters the final stretch toward 2030. Their remarks were followed by a global overview of SDG progress, outlining key achievements as well as persistent gaps that must be closed to deliver on the 2030 Agenda.

The 2025 SDG Moment further convened world leaders and multi-stakeholder representatives to share insights and showcase transformative initiatives, underscoring how just and inclusive transitions are essential to accelerating collective progress.

The event underscored global determination to ensure that leaving no one behind remains at the heart of development efforts. Discussions at the event focused on reviewing progress on the SDGs, highlighting challenges and successes, and exploring strategies to accelerate implementation in the final years of the 2030 Agenda.
