Undersecretary for Political Affairs participates in Group of 77, China ministerial meeting

New York, Sep. 25 (BNA): Ambassador Khaled Yousef Al Jalahma, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, participated in the high-level ministerial meeting of the Group of 77 and China, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, held in New York.

Ambassador Al Jalahma underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation among the countries of the South to achieve fair and comprehensive development, stressing at the same time the need to intensify international efforts to address economic, climate and development challenges in a way that serves the interests of developing countries and reinforces international solidarity.

He also underscored the Kingdom's commitment to supporting sustainable development, enhancing security and stability, and championing just causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.

Ambassador Al Jalahma stressed Bahrain's unwavering position on this issue and its support for the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state based on the two-state solution, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions. He also emphasised the need to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, release hostages and detainees, and ensure the urgent and uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid.

The meeting was attended by Hatem Abdulhamid Hatem, Head of the Organisations Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
