Haren Pandya murder case:SC refuses plea to interrogate Guj CM
New Delhi, Jul 15 (PTI) The Indian Supreme Court on
Wednesday declined to give a direction to Central Bureau of
Investigation (CBI) to interrogate Chief Minister of western
state of Gujarat Narendra Modi in the murder case of Haren
Pandya, the state home minister in 2003.
"There should be some basis in the allegation," a
bench headed by Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan said.
The Court was hearing the petition filed by Vithal
Bhai Pandya, father of Haren Pandya who was killed on March
26, 2003.
However, the court expressed its sympathy with the
father who had come to it to seek justice in the case.
"We are very sorry that a father has to come here,"
the bench also comprising Justices P Sathasivam and B S
Chauhan said.
Pandya's father himself made the submission and
later the bench allowed senior advocate Magan Bhai Barot to
make further submissions about the case.
They contended that CBI was not examining some of the
main witnesses in the case including the wife of the slain
leader which would help in going into the root of the
conspiracy allegedly involving the Chief Minister.PTI
