Malaysia Welcomes Trump’s Gaza Plan, Urges Full Implementation
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has commended United States President Donald Trump for his efforts to end Israel’s war on Gaza through a comprehensive plan, expressing hope it will be fully implemented.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry said the plan, which is much-awaited by the international community, is a crucial step towards bringing an immediate end to the genocide, starvation and destruction in Gaza.
“Malaysia hopes that the plan will be fully implemented in good faith, leading to the unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance, withdrawal of Israel’s forces, return of the Palestinian displaced persons and refugees, and reconstruction of Gaza,” the statement read.
The Foreign Ministry said Malaysia stressed that the plan’s implementation must be consistent with international law, the United Nations (UN) Charter and its relevant resolutions, while also ensuring the protection of Palestinians and addressing issues of justice and accountability.
“These are critical to achieving a just and durable peace, security and stability for all in the region,” the statement read.
The Foreign Ministry added that Malaysia stands ready to work with the United States and other members of the international community to bring peace to Gaza, its integration with the West Bank and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
On Monday, Trump announced a 20-point plan to end Israel's war on the besieged Gaza Strip.
The plan includes the release of Israeli captives in exchange for a number of Palestinian prisoners, complete disarmament of Hamas, and the formation of a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee to govern the enclave, Anadolu Ajansi reported.
