As part of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s official visit to Italy; Bahrain, Italy sign joint declaration to boost customs cooperation

Manama, Sep. 30 (BNA): As part of the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Italy, a joint declaration was signed between the Customs Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Customs and Monopolies Agency of the Italian Republic.

Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of Customs, highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening the exchange of expertise and international cooperation in the customs field, supporting the continuous development of customs and logistics operations, and strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a leading regional hub for trade and logistics services. He commended the support provided by the government, led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for customs work, which strengthens its role in the national economy, executed through effective customs plans and programmes under the supervision of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior.

The Customs President noted that the agreement aims to develop customs risk systems, promote the use of modern technology and artificial intelligence, and expand programmes for certified economic operators. This initiative will help increase trade volume, support the logistics sector, and enhance oversight to protect commercial supply chains from unlawful practices.
