Foreign Minister participates in Munich Leaders Meeting

AlUla, Oct. 1 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the Munich Leaders Meeting (MLM), organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in AlUla. The meeting brought together a number of foreign ministers from Arab and foreign countries, as well as experts and specialists in regional and international political affairs.

The conference was inaugurated by Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who emphasised that in this challenging period for the international community, marked by multiple crises, complex challenges, and uncertainty across various regions, the need for joint cooperation and prudent action is more pressing than ever.

He noted that the Middle East lies at the centre of many of these global challenges. Nevertheless, the region is well positioned to engage constructively in addressing pressing issues and to contribute to a meaningful dialogue that fosters peace and stability. He stressed that through sustained dialogue and cooperation, even the most complex issues can be addressed and tangible progress achieved, provided there is a genuine commitment to collective action and shared responsibility.

The two-day conference will address a wide range of pressing regional and international issues, including the situation in the Middle East, maritime security in the Red Sea, energy security, the Israeli-Iranian conflict concerning the Iranian nuclear programme, support for and reconstruction of Syria, efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, as well as challenges related to climate, water, and food security, among other vital topics.

Shaikh Ali bin Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saeed Abdulkhaliq Saeed, Director of the Coordination and Follow up Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and members of the minister’s delegation also attended the conference.
