Malaysia, Qatar To Boost Defence Cooperation, Information Sharing
KOTA TINGGI (Johor, Malaysia), Oct 2 (Bernama) -- The defence cooperation signed between Malaysia and Qatar recently forms the basis for strategic exploration in the defence industry, intelligence information and knowledge on security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region and the Middle East Asia.
Malaysia’s Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the agreement thus strengthens bilateral relations between the countries in terms of defence cooperation and increasing military capabilities between the two countries.
"In matters such as the defence industry, intelligence information, knowledge sharing on the Indo-Pacific region, it means they can know from Malaysia and we can also know the sharing of information and knowledge on the region in the Middle East Asia.
"Qatar is a friendly country that we trust," he told reporters after officiating the Kota Tinggi District Level Parent, Community and Private Involvement Education Network and Parent and Teacher Association (PIBG) Town Hall here Thursday.
The cooperation agreement was signed during his two-day official visit to Qatar on Sept 28.
The visit also saw the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Malaysian company, Ingress Corporation Bhd, and Barzan Holdings which was witnessed by the Defence Ministers of both countries.
