Prabowo, Ramaphosadeepen Indonesia--South Africa ties

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto welcomed South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to Jakarta on Wednesday, launching a state visit aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation between the two nations across key economic and political sectors.

The two leaders greeted each other with a warm handshake before heading to the podium for an official ceremony that began with the national anthems of South Africa and Indonesia.

Prabowo and Ramaphosa then inspected the guard of honor lined up in the Merdeka Palace courtyard. The ceremony was followed by an introduction of the delegations from both countries before moving inside for bilateral talks.

The two leaders later held a private meeting in Prabowo’s office, followed by a state dinner in honor of the South African delegation.

Discussions focused on expanding collaboration in trade, investment, defense, and renewable energy, as well as enhancing cooperation in education and people-to-people exchanges.

The visit marks a new chapter in more than three decades of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and South Africa, underscoring both nations’ commitment to deepening ties within the Global South framework.
