Madinah's Nine Competitive Advantages Boost Its Appeal to Local and Foreign Investors

Madinah, October 21, 2025, SPA -- Madinah Region enjoys a range of comparative and competitive advantages that stem from its strategic geographical location, abundant human and natural resources, and unique religious significance, making it one of the Kingdom’s most promising investment destinations.
According to a report issued by the Madinah Chamber, nine key elements define the region’s most prominent competitive strengths, including a broad array of investment incentives and facilities across promising sectors, multi-year tax exemptions, and tax benefits for industries such as manufacturing, tourism, and advanced technologies. The report also highlighted that foreign investors are permitted to own 100 percent of their companies in most economic sectors within the region. Additionally, streamlined services are provided to investors and entrepreneurs through relevant authorities, with simplified procedures for obtaining investment licenses via a unified regional investment system.
The report highlighted the abundance of valuable mineral resources in the region, alongside vast agricultural lands that support the production of a wide range of crops, including dates, vegetables, and fruits. Madinah is particularly renowned for its high-quality dates, considered among the finest in the world, with an annual production exceeding 344,000 tons across multiple varieties.
Another key advantage is the region’s advanced infrastructure and robust transportation network, including Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, AlUla International Airport, and Prince Abdul Mohsen bin Abdulaziz Airport in Yanbu, which collectively serve over 11 million passengers annually. Yanbu Commercial Port handles around 20 million tons of goods and 1.5 million containers, while King Fahd Industrial Port manages approximately 15 million tons and 400,000 containers each year. The Haramain High-Speed Train transports more than 1.5 million passengers annually.
The report further underscored the role of Madinah Industrial City, established on approximately 10 million square meters and housing 540 factories across various sectors, representing about 4.6% of the Kingdom’s total factories. This industrial hub stands as one of the region’s foremost competitive advantages, driving investment across multiple fields and contributing directly to the national economy and development programs.
Together, these advantages position Madinah Region as a prime destination for both local and international investors, aligning with the Kingdom’s broader vision to diversify the economy and promote sustainable regional development.
