Hassan Ibrahim outlines AI strategy, legal framework at IPU workshop

Geneva, Oct. 21 (BNA): MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, a member of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation, participated as a keynote speaker in a workshop on parliaments taking action on artificial intelligence and learning from global experiences, held during the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva. 

 

The workshop was attended by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives; Jamal Mohamed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council; and Dr. Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed, Member of the Shura Council.

 

MP Hassan outlined Bahrain’s legislative and strategic efforts to ensure the safe and ethical use of AI, highlighting existing laws on data protection, electronic transactions, and cybercrime, alongside plans for a comprehensive AI regulation law.

 

He emphasised that the Kingdom’s digital and national strategies, including the Economic Vision 2030 and National AI Strategy, aim to balance innovation with privacy and security, enhancing Bahrain’s role as a regional leader in sustainable and responsible digital transformation.
