Housing Minister participates in 90th Arab Housing Ministers’ Executive Bureau meeting

Cairo, Oct. 22 (BNA): Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, took part in the 90th Executive Bureau meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Construction, held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, attended the meeting.
The minister affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing Arab cooperation in housing and urban planning, and to developing policies that promote balanced and sustainable urban growth. She praised Arab countries’ progress in improving housing services and acknowledged the Arab League’s efforts in promoting these achievements internationally.
Al Rumaihi highlighted Bahrain’s success in providing social housing, guided by the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to ensure adequate housing and a decent life for citizens.
She noted that the ministry continues to expand cooperation with the private sector and adopt innovative solutions to accelerate housing projects. She added that these partnerships have helped provide thousands of housing services for Bahraini families through both traditional developments and financing schemes, including the Government Land Development Rights Programme.
The meeting discussed means to strengthen Arab cooperation in housing and construction, improve social housing services, and exchange successful experiences. It also reviewed Bahrain’s hosting of the Council’s official website, progress on the UN Sustainable Development Goal 11 for sustainable cities, and ongoing cooperation with UN-Habitat.
The council congratulated the United Arab Emirates on its election to chair the UN-Habitat General Assembly for the 2026 – 2029 term and discussed updates on the Arab Housing and Urban Development Strategy, the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, and the Arab Ministers’ Award for Architectural Excellence.
