Water Minister participates in 5th OIC Ministers’ Meeting on Water in Jeddah

Jeddah, Oct. 22 (BNA): Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, participated in the fifth session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministers Responsible for Water, held in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting brought together ministers, senior officials, and experts from member states to discuss issues related to water management, the environment, and sustainable development.
In his remarks, the minister said the meeting reflects the shared commitment of OIC countries to joint action on water and environmental challenges. He highlighted Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to strengthen environmental sustainability and water security through the National Water Strategy (2021 – 2030), which focuses on improving water-use efficiency, expanding reuse, and developing smart infrastructure.
He added that the Kingdom continues to adopt innovative technologies in water management and to expand the use of clean and renewable energy in desalination and wastewater treatment.
The minister thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the meeting and commended its leading role in supporting the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. He emphasised the importance of joint Islamic cooperation in advancing sustainable water projects, noting that ensuring water security is a shared responsibility for a safe and sustainable future for all.
