Thai PM Arrives in S.Korea for APEC Summit

REPUBLIC OF KOREA, Oct 29 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and his delegation have arrived in the city of Gyeongju, Republic of Korea, to attend the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting and related sessions.

The Prime Minister is attending the APEC summit and related meetings from October 29 to November 1, where he is scheduled to meet with several world leaders from major economies including China, Canada, South Korea, Brunei, Japan and U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Prime Minister will use the APEC platform to showcase the Thai government's commitment to multilateralism, with the World Trade Organization (WTO) at its center, while aiming to boost global confidence in Thailand’s economic potential. He is also set to deliver a keynote speech at the APEC CEO Summit under the theme, “Bridge. Business. Beyond.”

This time, he confirmed a planned meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and stated the priority agenda item would be a crucial economic matter: proposing China to expedite the purchase of 500,000 tonnes of Thai rice to generate national revenue. - 819 (TNA)
