Brig. Gen. Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa underscores Bahrain’s enduring role in advancing international dialogue

Manama, Nov. 1 (BNA):  Brigadier General Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said the vital role of international dialogue platforms in tackling global and regional challenges, emphasising that sustained communication among nations remains key to resolving complex issues.

Speaking to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Manama Dialogue, Brig. Gen. Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa said such forums have become essential spaces for addressing the geopolitical, economic, and environmental challenges facing the world today.

The Manama Dialogue, organised annually by the IISS in Bahrain, brings together senior government officials, policymakers, and experts from around the world to discuss regional security, diplomacy, and cooperation in the Middle East and beyond.

"There is no doubt that dialogue has always been crucial; it begins with meeting and exchange, and from there comes understanding and cooperation," he said.  "These conferences and gatherings play an important role in dealing with issues that concern our region and the world."

Brig. Gen. Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa noted that despite the growing number of international platforms, many global organisations have yet to effectively respond to the mounting challenges confronting the world.

"Unfortunately, many international institutions still struggle to respond to the issues that matter most to our region," he said.

"Forums like this provide valuable opportunities for open and discreet discussions that can lead to real progress."

He added that Bahrain’s ongoing success in hosting the Manama Dialogue over the past 21 years reflects the Kingdom’s strong commitment to regional and international engagement.

"The success of the Manama Dialogue year after year demonstrates Bahrain’s effective leadership and the guidance of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister," Shaikh Ali said.  "It has become a respected platform where officials and experts return annually to discuss and address the pressing challenges facing the world."

Brig. Gen. Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa concluded by stressing that the most important lesson is for nations to continue prioritising cooperation and dialogue to address shared concerns.

"We must continue to address our shared challenges through dialogue and understanding," he said.
