HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad signs security MoU with Cypriot National Security Council

Manama, Nov. 2 (BNA):  His Highness Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander, and Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of security between the General Secretariat of the Supreme Defence Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the National Security Council of the Republic of Cyprus, within the framework of the 21st Regional Security Summit, ‘Manama Dialogue 2025’.

 

The Cypriot delegation was represented at the signing by Tassos Tsezonis, National Security Advisor and Director of the Intelligence Service of Cyprus, in the presence of Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Deputy National Security Advisor and Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council, and Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Strategic Security Bureau.

 

His Highness affirmed that the signing of the MoU reflects Bahrain’s vision to expand its international partnerships in the field of security.  He noted that the agreement represents a strategic step to enhance security cooperation with Cyprus, develop security networks, and support joint preparations to address regional and global challenges, thereby serving the security and stability of both countries and the region.

 

His Highness added that the strong relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Cyprus have witnessed continuous growth across various domains.  He emphasised that this partnership reflects mutual trust and a shared commitment to developing effective cooperation in light of global changes, particularly in security and economic domains.

 

The MoU provides for cooperation in exchanging security information and expertise, conducting training, and maintaining continuous coordination between the two sides.


 

It also supports bilateral efforts to strengthen regional and international security and stability, in addition to holding joint meetings and addressing future common security challenges in a way that enhances the efficiency of security work and strengthens strategic structures in both countries.

 

His Highness and Tassos Tsezonis also discussed topics of mutual interest and reviewed the existing cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Cyprus.
