PM: Coordination Framework to Start Talks on Leadership Posts, No Political Issues Between Baghdad and Erbil

Baghdad / NINA/-  Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani confirmed that the Coordinating Framework will soon begin talks with political blocs to form the leadership positions, noting that the parliamentary elections were conducted smoothly.

Al-Sudani made the remarks during his participation in the Middle East Peace and Security Forum organized by the American University in Duhok, saying, "We have made significant progress in addressing the long-standing issues between the central government and the region."

He added, "In every parliamentary election, the results have not been the sole determinant for forming the government," noting that "the Reconstruction and Development Coalition is part of the Coordination Framework and the largest bloc."

The Prime Minister emphasized that seeking a second term is not a personal ambition but a responsibility to complete the tasks and implement the vision for the next phase, stressing that all political forces are keen to adhere to the constitutional timelines for forming the government.

Al-Sudani highlighted the need to maintain a stable electoral law and not change it every term, stressing the importance of addressing vote wastage, and that representatives of the people must discuss this issue to prevent electoral losses.

Regarding Baghdad-Erbil relations, he stated, "There are no political problems between the governments of Baghdad and Erbil. We have made important progress in overcoming many inherited issues, including company contracts and resuming oil exports," emphasizing that "the interests of the people of Kurdistan are equal to those of all Iraqis."

Al-Sudani also stressed that Iraq will not be a field for any foreign influence, and rumors in the media about external pressures will not happen, emphasizing Iraq's respect for its relations with other countries.

On development plans, the Prime Minister announced a clear vision to end gas flaring and stop gas imports by 2028. He noted that the government has implemented unprecedented financial reforms in Iraq and created an investment-friendly environment, with over 50 factories exporting their products abroad.

Al-Sudani confirmed that the unemployment rate has decreased from 17% to 13%, while instilling in young people the idea that government jobs are not the only opportunities, and that the private sector is also a viable option. He added that the "Riyada" initiative has attracted 550,000 young men and women./ End
