NAIROBI, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Kenya’s President William Samoei Ruto witnessed the exchange of two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) — one focused on promoting tourism and another on trade and investment — along with two documents concerning air services and the city council.
The MoU between the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCII) and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) is to promote trade and investment relations between both parties.
The MoU was exchanged between the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Salim Mvurya, and Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Zafrul Aziz.
Meanwhile, the MoU to promote and develop cooperation in the field of tourism between the two countries was exchanged between the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Dr Musalia Mudavadi, and Tengku Zafrul.
There was also an exchange of bilateral air services as a precursor to establishing the legal and regulatory framework under which designated airlines between Kenya and Malaysia will operate international air transport services between and beyond their respective territories.
This agreement was exchanged between Mudavadi and Tengku Zafrul.
The last exchange was a Letter of Intent between Nairobi City County and Kuala Lumpur City Hall to formally express interest and commitment to cooperate in specific areas of common interest.
This was done between Mvurya and the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
