President calls for reconciliation, dialogue

SANA'A, July 17 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh re-called on Friday all
political parties, the opposition, sheikhs, dignitaries, scholars, and civil society
organizations to overcome all difficulties and to look forward for reconciliation,
tolerance, dialogue and understanding under the ceiling of the constitution and
enforced laws, and to disregard violence and tension environment.

That was mentioned in Al-Thawrah editorial on Friday as written by the president.

He said that "we call all to benefit from the experiences of the past and its
lessons and to open a new page to start a serious and responsible dialogue to serve
the nation and solve all national issues within the framework of respecting the
constitution and laws enforced."

"Today, July 17th, marks the 31 anniversary since I have taken the responsibility of
the presidency of Yemen under difficult situations inside the country and the region
in general," he continued.

Saleh added "the country is in need for efforts of its citizens to live and work
together with peace and love so as to cut the way in front of those war traders who
want to see bloodshed and destruction."

He wondered how can anyone who claims patriotism accept to run for the president by
means of chaos and bloodshed?

Saleh pointed out that the Yemeni people opted for freedom and democratic pluralism
to express their free willingness through polling boxes to embody the concept of
peaceful exchange of power.

He emphasized that "under democracy, let competitors present the show by their
agendas away from violence, conspiracy and damaging the country's interests."
