Thai SEA Games: 10 Sports Shifted from Hat Yai to Bangkok and Chonburi

BANGKOK, Dec 3 (TNA) - Just six days before the opening ceremony, Thailand's government has relocated 10 SEA Games sports from flood-affected Hat Yai to venues in Bangkok and Chonburi.

Minister of Tourism and Sports, Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, confirmed the shift for the games, running from December 9-20, anticipating the events will boost the economy by over 15 billion baht (about $469 million).

The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) Governor, Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, declared the preparations are "100% ready," with accommodation finalized and focus now on promotion. An additional 10,000 seats were released today (Dec 3) for the December 9 opening ceremony at Rajamangala Stadium, which promises a "surprise."

The 33rd SEA Games runs from December 9-20, 2025. The 13th ASEAN Para Games follows in Nakhon Ratchasima from January 20-26, 2026. -819 (TNA)
