Riyadh Municipality Announces 61st ISOCARP World Planning Congress Highest Ever Approval of Scientific Papers

   Riyadh, December 2, 2025, SPA -- Riyadh Municipality announced that the 61st World Planning Congress of the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), hosted by the municipality from December 1 to 4, has accepted 545 scientific papers out of the 719 submitted for participation in the congress’s sessions and specialized tracks, marking the highest number in the organization’s 60-year history.
   This unprecedented figure reflects the growing global research interest in the congress and its rising status as a leading platform that brings together experts, planners, and researchers from around the world to discuss modern trends in urban and regional planning and to review international experiences that contribute to building more efficient and sustainable cities.
   The accepted papers cover a wide range of topics relevant to the realities and challenges of contemporary cities, including climate resilience, digital transformation, population growth management, development of critical infrastructure, inclusive governance, and quality of life, as well as data-driven and artificial intelligence-based planning models.
   They also address new pathways for urban development and the evolving needs of cities amid economic, social, and technological changes.
