Riyadh Hosts Ceremony to Honor Almarai Prize Winners for Scientific Creativity

Riyadh, December 02, 2025, SPA -- Governor of Riyadh Region Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz patronized on Monday evening the ceremony honoring the winners of the 2024 Almarai Prize for Scientific Creativity, organized by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and Almarai Company in Riyadh.
The governor expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their support of scientific innovation and creativity, expressing his pleasure in attending and patronizing the ceremony honoring the winners.
During the event, Chairman of the Almarai Prize’s Board Dr. Munir Eldesouki congratulated the winners for their outstanding work, which is expected to contribute to innovative solutions for enhancing food security in arid regions, particularly amid environmental challenges such as desertification, climate change, and population growth.
He announced the launch of a center of excellence for sustainable food security, a joint initiative with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands, aiming to serve as a strategic hub for innovation, addressing food system challenges, developing national competencies, and strengthening international research partnerships.
The ceremony was attended by several ministers and senior officials.
