Ambassador to Portugal hosts reception for National Day celebrations

Lisbon, Dec. 9 (BNA): Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Portuguese Republic, residing in London, hosted a reception and luncheon in Lisbon. The reception was held on the occasion of Bahrain’s National Day and the Anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Accession to the Throne, and to reiterate Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Portugal.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Arab and Gulf ambassadors and diplomats accredited in Portugal, and the president and senior officials of the Portuguese-Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed highlighted the strong relations between the two countries and the Kingdom’s commitment to enhance cooperation with Portugal. He emphasised Bahrain’s efforts to expand constructive bilateral cooperation in all domains, particularly the trade, economic, and tourism sectors, through signing and implementing agreements and memoranda of understanding.
The ambassador also commended Portugal’s prominent positions on regional and international issues and reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to continuing constructive bilateral and multilateral cooperation, especially as Bahrain assumes its non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council for 2026–2027 and its presidency of the 46th session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
On their part, a representative from the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the longstanding relations between the Kingdom and Portugal and expressing the country’s commitment to further developing ties and supporting bilateral, regional, and international cooperation.
