Saudi Arabia Calls for Stronger Partnerships, Efficient Aid Delivery at OCHA Donor Meeting

New York, December 12, 2025, SPA -- Saudi Arabia's Representative to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Donor Support Group (ODSG) and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Assistant Supervisor General of Planning and Development Dr. Aqeel Al-Ghamdi participated in a high-level ODSG meeting at the German Mission to the UN in New York, attended by Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher and representatives from donor countries.
Al-Ghamdi emphasized the importance of continuing support for international humanitarian plans and funding projects in conflict and disaster zones, strengthening partnerships with OCHA and other UN agencies, and developing new mechanisms to ensure aid reaches beneficiaries more efficiently.
He stressed that the Kingdom's participation underscores its leading role as a major international donor through KSrelief and its commitment to the UN Charter.
Participants discussed strategic priorities, including preparations for the 2026 Global Humanitarian Overview, assessing outcomes, and exchanging views on growing humanitarian needs in crisis zones. They emphasized the need to improve current financing models to ensure the sustainability of humanitarian resources and maximize impact.
Discussions also focused on strengthening the donor community's role in shaping the humanitarian agenda and driving the transformation of international humanitarian governance.
