Songkhla Deploys Drones to Sanitize Hatyai Flood Debris Landfill

SONGKHLA, Dec 16 (TNA) - Local authorities in Songkhla province are ramping up efforts to restore normality following the recent flood crisis, with the provincial administrative organization launching a specialized drone operation to disinfect and manage accumulated flood debris.
The Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization Public Health Division led the "drone fly" operation yesterday (Dec. 15) at the Koh Taeo landfill, the designated site for flood recovery waste disposal in the Hatyai district.

The action follows the massive accumulation of flood-related refuse, which has been transferred from temporary waste collection points across the Hatyai Municipal area to the Koh Taeo facility. This large volume of garbage is now posing significant environmental and public health risks to the surrounding community.
The operation involved deploying drones to spray disinfectants, deodorizers, and insect control agents over the waste pile, specifically targeting the newly transported debris for maximum efficiency in odor reduction and decomposition.
The drone team worked in conjunction with ground crews who manually sprayed accessible areas.
