Thai Forces Retake Ta Khwai Temple in Border Clash

SURIN, Dec 16 (TNA) - The Royal Thai Army reported it successfully retook the disputed Ta Khwai Temple complex from Cambodian forces.

Thai soldiers affirmed the territorial claim by planting the national flag on the structure, though fierce fighting continues on the surrounding high ground, including Hill 350.

The Army confirmed it pushed Cambodian troops out of the temple area and established control. However, Cambodian forces are sustaining counter-attacks with heavy weaponry to reclaim strategic surrounding territory, keeping the situation highly volatile. All local residents have been evacuated, and access remains restricted.

In a related operation near the Chong An Ma pass in Ubon Ratchathani Province, Thai troops seized a significant cache of Chinese-made armaments from Cambodian positions late Monday. The captured weapons include 82mm mortar rounds, portable anti-tank rocket launchers, and various anti-tank and anti-personnel warheads. The seizure follows an earlier operation that secured a fifth-generation Chinese-made GAM-102LR guided anti-tank missile system. -819 (TNA)
