HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad wins Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Sports Award for 2025 in Arab Sports Personality category
Manama, Dec. 29 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, won the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Sports Award for 2025 in the Arab Sports Personality category, in recognition of His Highness’ contributions and influential efforts in developing sports and strengthening its developmental role at the regional and international levels.
The award was presented during a ceremony held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as part of the World Sports Summit, which is one of the largest global sports gatherings and is held under the slogan "Uniting the world through sport". The summit was attended by a select group of sports leaders, decision-makers, experts and sports stars from around the world.
The awards ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Fujairah; His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC); His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Sports Council; Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA; and a number of senior officials from various countries.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad received the award from His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
Winning the Arab Sports Personality Award reflects HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad’s leadership skills and strategic vision, which have contributed to major advances in Bahraini sports through his continued support for developing the sports system, empowering youth, creating champions, and strengthening Bahrain’s presence at regional and international sporting events.
In the same context, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad participated in the World Sports Summit as a keynote speaker in a panel discussion titled "Leadership from the Front Lines: Discipline of Champions". During the session, His Highness highlighted achievements in endurance sports and triathlons, as well as the Kingdom of Bahrain’s sporting successes across various disciplines at regional and global levels.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad said that Bahrain’s sporting achievements are the result of the patronage and continued support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the care and support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. His Highness noted that investment in youth and sports has been, and remains, a strategic choice that has enhanced Bahrain’s position on the regional and international sports map.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad commended the value of the summit for global sport and the major efforts made by the UAE under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Prime Minister. His Highness also highlighted the prominent role of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed in organising and hosting major international sporting events, emphasisig that these efforts and strategic vision have firmly established Dubai as a global centre for sport and a platform for dialogue, exchange of expertise and shaping the future of sport.
