Interior Minister receives UAE delegation

Manama, Dec. 30 (BNA): General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, received Brigadier General Saeed Ali Lootah, Acting Director General of Punishment and Correctional Institutions at the Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates, and his accompanying delegation.
Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, and Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, attended the meeting.
Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah welcomed the delegation’s visit to the Kingdom, noting that it aims to exchange expertise and review Bahrain’s experience in implementing alternative sentences. He highlighted that this experience has become an exemplary model for the criminal justice system and for enhancing community security through constructive community partnership.
The minister highlighted the deep-rooted ties between the two countries, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. He commended the security cooperation and coordination and the keenness to enhance the exchange of expertise within a framework of integration and coordination to safeguard collective security and protect the achievements and interests of the GCC states.
Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah noted that the Alternative Sentencing Project, part of rehabilitation-oriented initiatives and programmes to strengthen social cohesion and community building, was launched in line with the royal vision. He emphasised that it is a pioneering humanitarian and reformative system that balances the protection of society with the rehabilitation of the individual, making punishment a tool for reform that benefits society and is grounded in the values of justice and social responsibility.
The meeting also discussed security-related issues and means to strengthen the exchange of expertise and best practices, contributing to the development of cooperation.
