SFDA, National Committee for Pharmacies Discuss Drug Track and Trace System

Riyadh, January 07, 2026, SPA -- The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) held a meeting at its headquarters in Riyadh with the national committee for pharmacies at the Federation of Saudi Chambers to discuss challenges related to the implementation of the Drug Track and Trace System (RSD) for pharmaceutical products. The meeting was attended by a number of specialists from both sides.
During the meeting, areas of cooperation were reviewed to enhance the efficiency of the system’s implementation and raise the level of compliance within the pharmacy sector. These efforts aim to strengthen drug safety and quality, support the reliability of the pharmaceutical supply chain, and improve the efficiency of data exchange related to drug tracking.
Both sides also discussed the importance of developing the regulatory and technical work environment in line with the objectives of digital transformation in the health sector.
The SFDA reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the private sector and working in an integrated manner to address challenges of shared impact. This approach supports the stability of the pharmaceutical market and enhances the readiness of pharmacies to comply with regulatory requirements. The authority also emphasized the importance of continued coordination and follow-up with the National Committee for Pharmacies, contributing to the achievement of shared goals, strengthening the efficiency of the health sector, and reflecting the SFDA’s role in protecting public health and enhancing community confidence in the pharmaceutical system.
