Channels rehabilitation project in Wadi Mour cost YR 800 mln
HODEIDAH, July 19
(Saba) - Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Mansour al-Hawshabi along with
Hodeidah Governor
Ahmed al-Jabali laid on Sunday a foundation stone for irrigation ditches
rehabilitation project in Wadi Mour of Hodeidah.
The project's director Fawaz al-Uthari briefed Al-Hawshabi and al-Jabali on the
project's components, executed by Tihama Development Authority (TDA).
The project of YR 800 million financed by the Food Security Project at the European
Union is expected to be finished by end of 2011.
Al-Uthari pointed out that the project includes rehabilitating and maintaining 50
km of the main, northern and southern channels and 200 meters from each
sub-channel, which
are about 36 ones, as well as carrying out protection works for the institutions and
villages in six areas.
The project also included building water outlets and further viaducts, flattening
the dirt roads along the channels, maintaining the channels' exits and entries,
improving
the north sedimentation basin and executing the electrical and mechanical
rehabilitation for the transfer barrier's exits.
