Go beyond Bollywood, Hollywood stereotype projections: Clinton
New Delhi, Jul 20 (PTI) US Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton Monday asked India and United States to move beyond
the stereotypical cultural projections like those in Bollywood
and Hollywood movies.
Interacting with Delhi University students here, she
said while people watching Bollywood movies see melodrama and
all happy endings, those watching American sitcoms think "we
don't wear clothes".
Clinton was referring to the stereotypes of both US
and Indian films and sought increased cultural exchanges
between both the countries.
"I want to see how we can ensure more exchanges. We
have different cultures...exchange programmes should be
accelerated," she said.
The interaction was attended by students from Delhi
University and other varsities like Jamia Milia Islamia. PTI
