2012 plan for energy projects and investments sent to cabinet

SANA'A, July 20 (Saba)- Headed by Prime Minister Ali Mujawar, Higher Committee for Energy agreed on Monday
to send a plan of energy projects and investments until 2012- within a framework of the 2025 strategy of electricity sector- to the cabinet.
The total cost of the projects is $ 2.9 billion including second Mareb =
gas power plant at capacity of 400 MgW, and Mabar station at same =
capacity.
The committee also discussed a memorandum presented by the Minister of =
Electricity and Energy about the investments in the power sector in =
coming period.
The minister in his report affirmed importance of the private sector to =
contribute to the government efforts in generating the electricity.
The report also pointed out to the national program for using natural =
gas to generate the electricity.
Meanwhile, the minister of electricity briefed the committee on the =
final arrangement to enter first Mareb Gas Power Plant into service at =
capacity of 341 MgW.
