Cabinet to settle ports' law draft next week
SANA'A, July 21 (Saba) - Cabinet
approved on its Tuesday meeting chaired by Premier Ali Mujawar gave the concerned
ministries
a chance till next Tuesday to present their remarks on a law draft of ports
submitted by Minister of Transport Khalid al-Wazir.
Preparing the draft aims at pinpointing the lawful frame under which the ports'
authorities will be able to undertake their responsibilities and encouraging the
ports development
and assuring the private sector's contribution to affording the infrastructure for
the ports and their services.
The law draft will guarantee the fair competition and will allow continuous
promoting for the ports of the country and their services to reach the best level
just like the
services presented by the worldwide ports.
The law draft included regulations related to developing the ports and the measures
of licenses, operating rights, and presenting ships services in addition to issues
relevant
to the vessels shipping, port's safety.
Furthermore, the law draft dealt with the environment aspects, the health and
professional safety in the ports, the rules of prohibitions and penalties and the
ports' policies
and strategies as well as other aspects related to the port's activities.
