Yemen, US in `attorney general talks`

WASHINGTON, July 22 (Saba) - Attorney General
Abdullah al-Ulofi met Wednesday in Washington with his US counterpart Eric Holder.
The meeting dealt with judicial cooperation between the states in addition to the
issues of the Yemeni Gitmo detainees and the custody of Yemeni cleric Sheikh
Mohammed al-Moayad
and his personal assistant Mohammed Zayed.
The two Yemeni nationals were arrested in Germany in 2003 and extradited to the
United States and went on trial last year.
The two would have been gone a retrial in June. They face alleged terrorism charges.
Al-Ulofi renewed Yemen's call for the release of its nationals as well as providing
full medical care for the cleric and his aide.
The two officials also discussed judicial strides in Yemen, stressing the
importance of continuing cooperation in the interest of the two countries.
Holder praised Yemen's efforts in judicial and security cooperation with the US
through sharing information and expertise.
He affirmed the US will continue to support Yemen to combat terrorism and crime.
